Rosine 2.0: Futures + Histories of Collective Care

Rosine 2.0: Futures and Histories of Collective Care, organized by Carol Stakenas, shares processes, contexts, and histories that have shaped the work of Rosine Association 2.0, an interdisciplinary collective of artists, harm reductionists, healers, archivists, and community members involved in Philadelphia’s street economies. The exhibition features artworks interspersed with contextual materials from Friends Historical Library, Swarthmore College Peace Collection, and John J. Wilcox, Jr. Archives, at the William Way LGBT Community Center.

Rosine 2.0 has grappled with historical legacies, envisioned liberatory futures, resisted isolation, and cultivated radical empathy. Located throughout McCabe Library, this exhibition offers artworks, ephemera, and documentation to explore the histories and creative practices of harm reduction and mutual aid found in Philadelphia.

Rosine 2.0: Futures and Histories of Collective Care is a companion volume to Rosine 2.0, a project that brings together socially engaged art, harm reduction, mutual aid, and archival practices.  The publication includes essays and interviews; historical and contemporary ephemera; a portrait series of healers, harm reductionists, activists & organizers in Philly; and project documentation to share community-engaged processes.

In addition, the publication’s construction, designed by Omnivore, responds materially to the topics at hand—serving as both book and archival container—to share an initial record of our process and conversations and space to hold Rosine 2.0 materials yet to come.

Contributors include Katie L. Price, Jordan Landes, Sarah Gzesh, Carol Stakenas, Olivia Marotte, Raani Begum, Sultana Bibi, Lulu Duffy-Tumasz, Seneca Joyner, Carolyn Levy, Paloma Checa-Gismero, Nick Angelo, Dont Rhine, members of Philadelphia Red Umbrella Alliance and Project SAFE, Lillian Dunn, Pamela Draper, Folami Irvine, Misty Sol, Nina Johnson, Vivian Truong, Zissel Aronow, Yema Rosado, Naiymah Sanchez, Madelyn Morrison, and John Anderies.
