Transform Your Activism
March 1, 2023
Bond Hall, Swarthmore College
This interactive workshop invited participants to connect with four prominent Philly BIPOC queer and trans organizers for guidance and support around their organizing goals. Each brings a specific focus to the session; Rasheed Zaire Ajamu: the use of digital media and journalism for activism and community archiving; Abdul-Aliy Muhammad: creating reparationist projects centered around returning ancestral remains previously held at institutions to their communities; Sonia Parikh: mutual aid efforts, specifically running community fridges; Sam Rise: Infusing community-led direct action with creativity, art-making and joy. Organized by Zissel Aronow and Yema Rosado.
After the workshop, dinner was provided by Double Trellis, an organization providing joy and autonomy through dignified food for marginalized and housing insecure communities in Philadelphia.
